The Nando Times was started in the spring of 1994 by Nando Media, then a unit of The News & Observer. SportServer made its debut shortly thereafter.

In 1995, McClatchy acquired The News & Observer and, with it, Nando Media. Since then, Nando has been helping local McClatchy newspapers provide online content through its technology and newsroom. Since early 1997, we've been helping other newspaper companies outside of McClatchy with their interactive efforts, providing content and the technical services that have made The Nando Times and other McClatchy sites so successful.
